Educational Programs Presenter
Description/Qualifications: African Safari is looking for upbeat and energetic people to join our Education Department as full time or part time seasonal employees. Primary responsibilities include the following: public speaking, direct interaction with Safari Guests, and being the main presenter for the programs. Previous animal presentation experience and/or work with children is preferred. Related coursework or obtaining an education in animal science, biology, education, or a similar field is preferred (may also be substituted with relevant work experience).
Description: Runs/participates in the educational programs provided three times daily throughout the summer. Must be able to interact well with Guests and have a thorough understanding of each animal used in the program as well as the ability to handle them.
Qualifications: Previous experience in children’s theater, recreation, education, costumed character performance or related work is helpful. Must be physically able to handle the demands of working outside with performer (not required to handle the animals)
Animal Experience Attendant
Description: Stationed at one of the Park's 4 additional Guest animal experiences - Camel Rides, Aviary Adventure, Rabbit Row, and Kangaroo Korner. Responsible for the daily cleaning, operation, and Guest assistance at these experiences. Tasks may include: assisting Guests on to and off of a camel, operating a digital camera and printer to take Guest photos, handling on the spot cash transactions, knowing detailed information about the animal(s) in the experience you are stationed at, making bird feeding sticks, keeping your service area clean and presentable.
Qualifications: Must be able to communicate well, follow instructions, work well with money, and be patient, alert, efficient, and courteous at all times. Should have a cheerful, courteous manner with a natural smile and be mature, level-headed, and not easily flustered by large crowds. Must be comfortable with physically assisting children and adults onto a camel.
*Must be over 18 years old to operate a grill, under 18 still permitted to work in Kitchen or Ice Cream Shop
Description: Handles Guest sales in a prompt, friendly, courteous manner using suggestive selling techniques. Ring up sales on a cash register, handles money, and counts out correct change. Responsible for preparation of various food products according to prescribed recipes. Keeps a clean and orderly area including the preparation area, guests areas (tables, chairs, serving lines, condiment stands, etc.) and all kitchen equipment. Learns menu items, portions, accompaniments and prices. Some heavy lifting is involved (approx. 40-50 lbs.)
Qualifications: Honesty and reliability is a must. Knowledge of accurate cash handling. Ability to work in groups at a hectic pace. Ability to follow instructions. Must maintain a well-groomed & professional appearance at all times. Flexibility to work various hours, work locations, and positions as business warrants.
Description: Performs manual labor as it related to the repair and maintenance of building and grounds, landscaping of grounds, repair or modification of existing exhibits, and construction of new exhibits in accordance with the instructions provided by the facilities manager.
Qualifications: Basic knowledge of construction principles and practices. Ability to follow both oral and written instructions. Ability to perform heavy manual labor. Ability to work under adverse conditions including weather and heights. Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record. Preferably, background in basic carpentry, masonry, and welding.
Description: Plans and conducts operational, financial and compliance audits to evaluate the effectiveness of daily operations. Determine compliance with selected policies, procedures, and regulations. Make written recommendations to the Director of Operations to increase efficiency and/or effectiveness of the control systems of functions reviewed. Position works with all levels of management and employees at African Safari Wildlife Park, internal audit personnel and external auditors. Consults with administrators, faculty and staff at all levels to promote good business practices
Qualifications: Proficiency in the use of QuickBooks, word processing and spreadsheet software, Word and Excel are preferred. Majors in criminal justice or accounting is highly preferred.
Description: Greets all Guests with a smile and offers assistance; via in person or on the telephone. Communicates clearly and in a friendly manner. Insures accuracy of transaction and provides merchandise to Guest and communicates appreciation for their business. Responsible for following cash handling and asset protection policies and requirements. Responsible for all checklists associated with the cashier position. Utilizes computer in the preparation and use of daily cash worksheet and balancing at the end of each day. Fills in for other Guest Services Staff as needed and directed. Responsible for the cleaning and organizing of assigned areas. Works as a team player to help others complete their objectives as needed. Responsible for following all zoo sanitation standards. Other duties as assigned.

Description: Assist Guests entering the Park. Includes accepting tickets from Guests, verifying authenticity of admission tickets, ringing purchases on a cash register, accepting coupons and payment, and distributing admission receipts to Guests. Are also responsible for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring safety in assigned work locations while providing operations excellence.
Qualifications: Must be able to communicate well, follow instructions, work well with money, and be patient, alert, efficient, and courteous at all times. Should have a cheerful, courteous manner with a natural smile and be mature, level-headed, and not easily flustered by large crowds. Experience on a register is helpful, but not required. Applicant must not mind being confined to a cashier booth and working alone during his/her shift. It is required that all must be able to read, comprehend, and speak the English language.
Drive-Thru Guest Relations
*Must be over 18 years old and have Valid Driver's License for this position
Description: Make sure Guests and animals are safe and following Park rules and guidelines while enjoying their Guest experience. Maintain traffic through Guest interaction. Keep assigned section free of feeding cups, debris, and animal waste. Be aware of animals’ disposition and well being for animal welfare and guest interaction.
Qualifications: Be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions for the duration of your shift. Be able to operate a golf cart while monitoring Guests and animals at the same time.
